The Infiltration: Will Content Strategy Take Over the (Web) World?

Us writerly types, we read, we think, we sit back, and we write. We organize, re-organize, and edit. Unless the writer is a performance artist, spoken word enthusiast, or beat poet, we generally don’t hear a rise a voices in public. Or anywhere. Until recently …

I’ve heard a clatter of feet on soap boxes. Tips and tricks and debate flying. And a big audible sigh to discover we are not alone!

Or just recently for me.

Blogs and blog commenting got us started. Maybe some forums here and there too. But with Twitter, we’re on a roll. Just check out some of the conversation:

And the super cool thing about this is, our discussion is making life easier for everyone. By sharing content strategy best practices — what works, what totally doesn’t — among different industries, we’re not only making smarter Web content experts, but also making the Web a better place to live. (I know I spend a lot of time there, and would love the Web to be an easier, more entertaining, more efficient place to be.)

Recently, the IA Summit 2009 shared all of their presentations on SlideShare: http://www.slideshare.net/event/ia-summit-2009/slideshows. A BUNCH on content strategy are included (including mine on persuasive copy). I’m pretty certain we’ll see a recurring trend of content strategy topics at Web conferences and seminars.

So yes, as if you can’t tell, I’m inspired this morning.

Are there more Twitter discussions about IA, UX, content strategy, copywriting than I’ve missed? Let me know. Go CS!
